Abstract:

After highlighting some of the research areas in my group, such as antiferromagnetic spintronics and giant magnetocalorics, I will present an overview of today’s Albanova Nanolab (www.albanova-nanolab.org), discuss the recent and planned additions and improvements as well as the potentially impactful on-going campus adjustments at KTH (can affect ANL by proxy).

ANL has become the key resource for academic and commercial nanoscale R&D in the Stockholm area. It is instrumental to raising 600-800 MSEK in research funding within nanoscience and related disciplines. With ca 80 unique LIMS users per year, lab-record 13000+ LIMS-booked-tool-hours in 2022, efficient economic model, and flexible infrastructure, it allows broad-spectrum, small-budget user access to top-level nanofabrication and characterization. ANL is ideally suited to basic research and high-risk innovation. Starting from grass roots, it has seen steady organic growth over the past decade, and we see a future with increasing the number of users and projects, in particular due to the continued expansion of the KTH-SU Quantum Technology footprint at the Albanova Science Centre. Thinking about new nanofab projects? Talk to me and/or the ANL staff to see if we can accommodate your needs.
