Research in the Viklund group focuses on life sciences and environmental applications of microscale acoustofluidics. We use acoustofluidics and ultrasonic standing waves in lab-on-a-chip systems for manipulating particles and fluids exposed to acoustic radiation forces. Applications are primarily explored in collaboration with the groups of Prof. Björn Önfelt (3D cell cultures and cancer therapy studies), Assoc. Prof. Jonas Sellberg (sample delivery in serial crystallography at synchrotrons and x-ray free-electron lasers) and Prof. Aman Russom (microplastics detection and analysis in drinking water).
